How to approach graphing lines

A line can be graphed from slope-intercept form, standard form, or a special equation such as x = −3. The equation determines both the direction of the line and where it crosses the coordinate axes.

These problems give students a full coordinate plane for every equation. Plot at least three points, draw one straight line through them, and use the completed graphs in the answer key to compare placement rather than only checking an equation.

Graph y = −2x + 3.
